Most of us who have been exercising, know exactly the days we have had, that can make it hard to push ourselves. We go to the gym, we feel sluggish, the weight we could push last week feels 20 pounds heavier. No one likes to feel this way. To help this situation, is to simply adjust the workout routine you are doing. For example, if you wanted to lift heavy that day, maybe for 5 reps but you can’t. The simple thing to do is just lower the weight, but still do those reps. We all want to push past it, and some can. But, it’s okay to slightly adjust the weight so you can do the workouts and reps you want or need.
Another option, is to forget what routine you thought of, and do something completely different. Let’s say you were thinking about doing 4 sets of 10 reps. Well, go lighter and do 4-5 sets of 15-20 reps. That way you are still stressing the muscles, but not worried about getting the weight back up, or over thinking it so much. In that case, it can make the workout a lot worse or more stressful. You should listen to your body. The major thing is adjusting your mental state. You need to tell yourself, “I am going to do the workout no matter what, if I have to adjust the weight I will”. Something so simple and easy can make a big difference in your ability to exercise.
We also have so many distractions from things around us. This can be from relationships, friends, family, work, or other personal issues. This can lead to a very stressful, not so healthy lifestyle. You should come to realize, that a lot of things can’t be in your control, even though you want them to be. Situations happen that bring us down. But, the only person that can get you back on your feet, is yourself. So, adjust the exercises and listen to your body. But, do remember, if you quit or stop, how are you making yourself stronger physically and mentally?
